It took a while to get to us, but when one of the best Netflix shows, The Witcher, finally returned for new episodes, it certainly turned out to be worth the wait. As we’d been promised, Geralt and Ciri were beginning to lean into their new surrogate father / daughter roles, with the grunting monster-hunter taking the exiled princess to his childhood home / training ground. We’d also been told that young Ciri would become “a lot more brutal,” and that was evident as Geralt began training her. It led to Ciri having some truly badass scenes, and Freya Allan has opened up about how she trained for them and why they were “exhilarating.”

It’s taken two years and a season and a half, but The Witcher Season 2 finally shows the beginning of a family. Episode 6, “Dear Friend”, revolves around Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) reuniting with her lover bound by destiny, Geralt (Henry Cavill), and meeting Ciri (Freya Allan) for the first time. As composed as this sorceress and witcher always are, their meeting in the Temple of Melitele is anything but.

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for The Witcher Season 2.]. Yas, Princess! Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher is Princess Cirilla of Cintra’s (Freya Allan) season. After uniting with monster slayer-for-hire Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Ciri and Geralt travel to the mountainous stronghold of his mutant brethren, Kaer Morhen. There, Ciri proves once and for all that she is so much more than Cintra royalty with uncontrolled magic in her veins — she’s a fighter. Early on in the season, we see her go through training to defend herself, from learning how to handle a sword to weaving her way through an American Ninja Warrior-esque course that knocks her down… a lot.

Season two of The Witcher is here, and things pick right up where they left off. Fans will be thrilled to see Netflix’s hit series The Witcher is finally getting into the meat of the books and popular video game in season two. After Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Ciri (Freya Allan) FINALLY find each other in the season one finale, the often brooding character is now honoring the law of surprise and decides to take Ciri under his wing, putting her on a path to become a Witcher.

The Witcher season 2 is now out in the wild, and fans know that quite a bit of the series takes place at Kaer Morhen, as Geralt takes Ciri there to train and keep her safe. We get several instances of Ciri and Geralt working together but we also see Ciri training on her own or with other Witchers at different times throughout the series, including one sequence where Lambert looks to make a point with a training dummy. ComicBook.com had the chance to speak to Freya Allan about that scene, and she revealed that the scene did not go according to plan for Lambert actor Paul Bullion, and it made for a memorable and quite entertaining sequence of events.

Geralt has two priorities when it comes to Ciri — keeping her safe and also getting to know more about her. He’s already aware that there’s something very special about the Princess of Cintra, but the only way he can access the extent and truth of it is by connecting with Ciri via warmth, understanding and support. That means backing Ciri’s ambition to learn to fight and defend herself.
