Claesson was reassigned from the active roster to AHL Syracuse on Wednesday. Claesson has yet to record an NHL point despite making nine appearances this season. The 28-year-old will return to AHL Syracuse where he has contributed two assists over 11 games. His most recent AHL point was recorded on Jan. 17.

Claesson was reassigned from the active roster to the taxi squad Sunday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports. The Lightning are dealing with several injured blueliners so Claesson could be recalled for Thursday's tilt with New Jersey. The 29-year-old has been held scoreless through six NHL appearances this season.

Because the Tampa Bay Lightning played their last game without two defensemen, they have been given two emergency exemptions for tonight’s game (and the next one until those players are healthy) against the Anaheim Ducks. This means the Bolts can call up two defensemen from the AHL or Taxi Squad (which is the AHL for all intents and purposes) without those players having a cap hit for that day. Once the regulars on defense are back, the Lightning will give up each emergency exemption, so no cap loophole happening here.

Claesson was elevated from AHL Toronto on Tuesday. Claesson has been limited to just three games with the Lightning this season in which he averaged a mere 10:58 of ice time. As such, fantasy players shouldn't be expecting him to offer much in the way of offensive production, especially considering he hasn't registered a point at the NHL level since the 2019-20 campaign.

Claesson was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Friday. Claesson has an assist in three games with AHL Syracuse and hasn't appeared in an NHL game this season. The veteran blueliner will likely be a healthy scratch until Mikhail Sergachev (suspension) is back in the lineup.

Claesson was demoted to the minors Monday. With Cal Foote back from his conditioning assignment, Claesson was sitting at eighth on the blue line depth chart. As a result, the team opted to flip him for an extra forward, calling up Gabriel Dumont from AHL Syracuse. Looking ahead to the rest of the campaign, Claesson should be atop the list of potential call-ups but figures to play most of his games this year in the minors.
