Finn Balor, also known as Fergal Devitt, is an Irish professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE under the Raw brand. A WWE Universal Champion, and a NXT Champion with a record reign of 292 days, he has spent a long part of his career with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion—often holding both the titles simultaneously. A founding member of the ‘Prince Prince’ tag team, and a member of the groups ‘Apollo 55’ and ‘Bullet Club’, he is also a two-time winner of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament. Balor became the first wrestler in WWE history to win a world title in their pay-per-view debut, and become the first wrestler in WWE history to win the world title in only 27 days following their main roster debut. He has also wrestled for several independent promotions, and is also an ICW Zero-G Champion, RPW British Cruiserweight Champion and NWA British Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion.

When Finn Balor and Ricochet picked up the WWE United States and Intercontinental titles respectively, there was a sigh of relief that perhaps the WWE was going to put more effort into the booking of the midcard championships. That sadly wasn’t the case, with both champions falling victim to multiple defeats and being left off the WrestleMania card entirely. As Finn Balor heads into Monday Night Raw to defend against Austin Theory, the best bet would be to take the title off Balor and put it around Theory’s waist. At least then the title will be on someone who has received consistent booking in recent months.
