Orioles' Fernando Abad: Yields run Saturday

Abad gave up a run on three hits in one inning in Saturday's 9-3 loss versus Boston. The southpaw remains inconsistent in a low-leverage role, as he's allowed four runs (three earned) across 5.1 innings in September. Overall, Abad owns a 6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 9:7 K:BB in 13.1 innings. He's added just one hold and is unlikely to see much more than mop-up duty for the rest of the year.

Orioles' Fernando Abad: Struggling in low-leverage role

Abad allowed a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning during Sunday's 8-7 win over the Yankees. The 35-year-old allowed an inherited runner to score before finishing the fifth inning. Abad also allowed a single to Gleyber Torres in the sixth, and he scored on a Gary Sanchez two-run home run off Marcos Diplan. Through 8.2 innings with Baltimore this year, Abad has surrendered eight runs with a 6:5 K:BB. He's likely set for low-leverage work for the remainder of the season, as he's shown little consistency in a limited sample.

Orioles' Fernando Abad: Decent in long relief

Abad allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. The southpaw covered the most innings of the five pitchers Baltimore used to get through the high-scoring contest. It was the first time in four appearances Abad was able to keep runs off the board, as he's yielded seven runs in seven innings since he was brought up from Triple-A Norfolk.
