Oilers’ Evander Kane offers incredible quote on their chances in Game 2 against Flames

On Wednesday, the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames played the highest-scoring Stanley Cup playoff game since 1993 and tied for the fifth-highest ever. Calgary won that game 9-6. On Friday, ahead of the second game in the series, the Oilers’ Evander Kane (seen at left above celebrating a first-round goal with teammate Connor McDavid) offered quite a prediction for his team’s odds:

Evander Kane, Connor McDavid Connection 'So Damn Insane' as Oilers Rout Flames

The Edmonton Oilers once again relied on their explosive offense to propel them to a win over the Calgary Flames, and this time it was Evander Kane who led the way. Kane recorded a natural hat trick in the the Oilers' four-goal second period as the Oilers went on to win 4-1 to take a 2-1 series lead. It was the 30-year-old's second hat trick of the 2022 playoffs.

On Thursday night, Game 1 of "The Battle of Alberta" between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers absolutely delivered. There were 15 total goals, a hat trick, a number of donnybrooks and one Hall-of-Fame chirp from Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk, who also happened to score the hatty. Decent night for the kid.

Kane's natural hat trick came in a span of six minutes during the second period as the Oilers cashed in on their early dominance in this contest. With the hatty, the 30-year-old winger is up to 10 goals, three assists, 43 shots, 48 hits, 24 PIM and a plus-9 rating through 10 playoff contests. He's played on the top line in the last two games with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, a trio the Flames' defense has yet to be able to contain.

Kane notched a power-play assist, four PIM, three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-3 win over the Flames in Game 2. Kane helped out on Evan Bouchard's game-tying tally at 15:03 of the second period. Prior to Friday, Kane had been boom or bust in the playoffs -- he has a trio of three-point games and five empty score lines on his postseason ledger. He's at seven goals, three helpers, 37 shots, 38 hits, 22 PIM and a plus-7 rating in nine contests.

Kane scored twice on six shots, added an assist, went plus-3 and doled out four hits in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Kings in Game 6. Kane set up Connor McDavid on the opening goal before scoring the Oilers' second and fourth goals himself. The 30-year-old Kane has yet to record a point in the Oilers' three playoff losses, but he's netted seven goals and two assists in their wins.
