Ethan Thompson has played his last game at Oregon State. Thompson officially announced Tuesday night via Twitter that he is hanging up his Beavers jersey and moving on to the next chapter of his life. In the heartfelt post, the senior guard expressed his appreciation and support for Beaver Nation.

The end is near for the Thompsons and Oregon State basketball. When that day comes, it is anyone’s guess. And delightfully so for son Ethan and father Stephen Thompson. The coach dad and player son hugged more than once Saturday night in the aftermath of the Beavers’ Pac-12 tournament championship win over Colorado. It could have been the last game for Ethan, a senior, playing for Stephen, an OSU assistant coach. Just like Thursday against UCLA, and Friday against Oregon, could have been the end.

Ethan Thompson now won’t feel so left out when the topic of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament comes up in his family. Thompson’s dad Stephen was an All-American at Syracuse and played in 13 March Madness contests across four seasons, including an appearance in the 1987 national championship game against Indiana.
