Dan Levy and Emily Hampshire Have a "Motel For Sale!" in This Mini Schitt's Creek Webisode

Welcome back to the Rosebud Motel, where the Herb Ertlinger wine flows freely and the Schitt's Creek cast has us cracking up with their behind-the-scenes antics. On Wednesday, Emily Hampshire shared a webisode from season one that shows her and Dan Levy in character as Stevie and David during a conversation about selling the motel. "How far did you get into selling the motel while I wasn't there?" David asks Stevie, who says she "barely even considered it" — apart from speaking to a realtor, getting a quote, buying "for sale" signs, and brainstorming a few commercial slogans.

Schitt's Creek's Emily Hampshire Leads Redo of Norman Lear's Mary Hartman

Schitt’s Creek vet Emily Hampshire has booked herself a trip to Fernwood, Ohio, to star in a remake of Norman Lear’s Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. The original syndicated series, which ran weeknights from January 1976 to July 1977, was a soap opera sendup that starred Louise Lasser as a housewife who attempted to cope with various bizarre and violent incidents occurring around her. Lasser earned an Emmy nod for the role in ’76, in a Special Classification of Outstanding Program and Individual Achievement. (In July 1977, the offshoot Fernwood 2 Night, a talk show spoof starring Martin Mull and Fred Willard, premiered and ran through September.)

Is there a “Schitt’s Creek” reunion or movie in the works?. “Extra’s” Rachel Lindsay caught up with Emily Hampshire, who played Stevie on the show, and asked her what fans can expect. She played coy, but did say, “There definitely has been talk of us getting together to do something again. None of us wanted to end the show. We all genuinely like each other… so I don’t think it is the end of us doing something together again.”

Emily Hampshire to star in a remake of Norman Lear's Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman

The former Schitt's Creek star will co-write, executive produce and star in an updated version of the Lear-developed satire of soap operas, American media, and consumer culture that earned a cult-like following airing in first-run syndication from 1976 to 1977. Louise Lasser earned an Emmy nomination playing the title role, a small-town Ohio housewife who reacted to the bizarre goings on all around her. Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman ran for two seasons and 325 episodes, spawning the beloved spinoff spoof talk show Fernwood 2 Night, starring Martin Mull and Fred Willard. Sony Pictures TV, which plans to shop the remake to networks and streamers, says the updated Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman gives a new spin to the characters of Fernwood, Ohio, and “is about a small-town woman who feels like a nobody in every aspect of her life until she suddenly becomes a ‘Verified’ social media somebody. We’re bringing the original show’s satirical look at consumer culture into today’s social media world, where ‘America’s Typical Consumer Housewife’ has now become the product consumed when her nervous breakdown goes viral.” Hampshire will co-write the revival with Canadian actor, director and writer Jacob Tierney. The pair have worked together in the past, including in his 2009 film The Trotsky.
