Elliotte Friedman speaks on the Leafs’ untouchable prospects, JT Miller, Jake Muzzin’s injury timeline, and if the Leafs would consider adding a goalie

There are plenty of Leafs-related nuggets to chew on from Elliotte Friedman in today’s 32 Thoughts Podcast. I don’t think the Maple Leafs know how long he is going to be out… With concussions, you worry about the cumulative effects. You sit there, and you’re saying, “He missed a month last time. We are going to be careful with this, and it is going to be more than a month this time.” On that, I think we can be pretty sure.

Craig Morgan and Elliotte Friedman reporting Ilya Lyubushkin to be traded, Maple Leafs are a possible destination

Even if you aren’t sold on Lyubushkin (we’ll get to why you should be later) the deal could potentially involve the Leafs ridding themselves of Nick Ritchie’s contract. Since Ritchie has been demoted to the AHL, the move of Lyubushkin for Ritchie would essentially be a wash money-wise, and it would just come down to what Toronto needs to add to make the trade appealing to the Coyotes.

Rangers mentioned by Elliotte Friedman as interested in Ben Chiarot

Per Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers are one of six teams to be interested in Ben Chairot. Montreal's asking price for the veteran, left-handed blueliner is a first-round pick. The rumored interest and asking price are both not surprises, doesn't mean the Rangers should pay it. New York is fairly clearly...

We’re not going to bury the lede here: the Flyers trading Claude Giroux is becoming a real possibility. The Flyers may be forced to trade their captain if things don’t turn around soon. Giroux is in the final year of his eight-year contract as the Flyers continue to struggle this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ brutal start to the season may have been set in motion a long time ago. Possibly as far back as prior to the 2020-21 season. That’s when the club agreed to allow unrestricted access to Amazon camera operators, producers, and writers. The streaming service focused its latest docuseries, All or Nothing, on the Maple Leafs. The cameras are long gone, but NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, believes the team is still dealing with the aftermath.

Elliotte Friedman: Avs called Sabres about Jack Eichel

There are many people I really respect in my 26 years of covering the NHL and the Colorado Avalanche, but probably none more so than SportsNet and Hockey Night in Canada reporter Elliotte Friedman. I’ve said this before, but Elliotte is not only an ace reporter, but a class act of a human being. So, it’s not without considerable personal regard that I post something he said tonight on HNIC: Specifically, that the Avs recently called the Buffalo Sabres to inquire about possibly acquiring disgruntled star center Jack Eichel.

Elliotte Friedman: Gabe Landeskog has 7-year, $49 million offer “on the table” from Avs

First off, Elliotte Friedman is a phenomenal hockey reporter – and an even better guy. So, whenever Elliotte reports something, I take it right to the Dater Bank and cash it. I am a super-competitive guy and like to break the news first on the team I cover but…yeah, it’s not always going to happen. Friedman has sources. So, when he tweeted just now about the Avs and an offer to Gabe Landeskog, well I consider that breaking news in itself.

Elliotte Friedman reports Detroit Red Wings expected to pursue Maple Leafs center

According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Detroit Red Wings are expected to pursue Toronto Maple Leafs center, Zach Hyman. “Don’t know if it still works, but Toronto liked Tyler Bertuzzi this season — moving elsewhere when it became obvious he wasn’t going to be healthy. Barring a major change, Zach Hyman won’t be back with the Maple Leafs, a big loss for them. It’s expected Detroit will be among his pursues, although the Red Wings won’t be the only ones.”
