Los Angeles, April 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actress Elizabeth Marvel has joined the star-studded cast of Blitz Bazawule's adaptation of 'The Color Purple'. The forthcoming Warner Bros. musical movie is an adaptation of Alice Walker's iconic American novel, as well as the Oscar-nominated 1985 film and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that it inspired, reports 'Variety'.

Gilchrist will play Pastor Ron Adams, Marvel will portray Pastor Jackie Ponder, and Pelphrey is Don Crowder in the limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen revolving around Texas housewife Candy Montgomery’s murder of Betty Gore in 1980.

Slave Play Tony nominee Robert O'Hara will direct the production, which will begin performances on January 11, 2022 and open on January 23. Long Day’s Journey into Night will star Tony nominees Bill Camp and Ato-Blankson Wood as James and Edmund Tyrone, respectively, with Elizabeth Marvel as Mary Tyrone. Casting for the role of Jamie Tyrone will be announced at a later date. The production will be recorded and released globally on Audible.

Hulu has set a stellar recurring cast for The Dropout, its upcoming limited series about the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her company, Theranos. William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf, Elizabeth Marvel, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kate Burton, Stephen Fry, Michel Gill, Michael Ironside, Bill Irwin and Josh Pais join Amanda Seyfried in the series from Liz Meriwether, Seachlight Television and Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television. Production is scheduled to begin this summer.
