2021-22 Team: Örebro HK J20 (J20 Nationell) Elias Pettersson is a Swedish defenceman who plays a well-rounded two-way game. Not to be confused with his fellow Swede who has the exact same name (center for the Vancouver Canucks), this Elias Pettersson plays defence and is much bigger than his namesake.

Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Supplies two assists in OT win

Pettersson recorded a pair of assists and three shots on goal in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Kings. Pettersson set up both of Brock Boeser's goals in the contest -- a power-play tally to get the Canucks on the board in the third period and the game-winner in overtime. Through 12 outings in April, Pettersson has 10 goals and nine helpers. The 23-year-old's surge has him up to a career-high 68 points with 187 shots on net and a plus-1 rating through 79 outings this season.

Pettersson scored a goal on two shots and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Flames. Pettersson scored at 17:35 of the third period with Thatcher Demko replaced by an extra attacker. Pettersson scored a pair of goals on eight shots to pass the 30-goal mark in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Wild. Both of Pettersson's goals came in the second period. He ripped a snapshot by Cam Talbot to put Vancouver on the board before burying a rebound chance later in the period. The 23-year-old center has 16 points -- nine goals and seven assists -- in his last eight contests. With his performance Thursday, Pettersson reached the 30-goal mark for the first time in his four-year career.

He's logged nine goals and six assists in his last nine outings. For the season, the 23-year-old is up to 27 tallies, 33 assists, 166 shots on net and a plus-1 rating. Given his hot run, he could still match his career high of 66 points from his first two seasons if he doesn't slow down in the final two weeks of the campaign.

New General Manager Patrik Allvin will soon learn the type of chaos he can make with comments like that in a Canadian market. His comment was picked up by all the local news outlets, radio shows and podcasts, and spread far and wide as debate ensued as to whether or not there was a superstar on the Canucks roster. Swedish centreman Elias Pettersson may fit that description best, but his rollercoaster season this year has left that in doubt.
