Flames' Elias Lindholm: Sparks comeback effort

Lindholm scored a power-play goal on three shots and added six hits in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Oilers in Game 4. Lindholm got the Flames' comeback started at 9:04 of the second period. He walked into the slot and ripped a shot past Mike Smith for his fifth goal of the postseason. Flames forward Elias Lindholm named Selke Trophy finalist

A Calgary Flames player is one of the top three vote-getters for one of the National Hockey League’s most prestigious awards. Forward Elias Lindholm was named as one of three finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy on Tuesday morning, alongside Florida’s Aleksander Barkov and Boston’s Patrice Bergeron. The trophy is awarded to the top defensive forward in the National Hockey League, as voted by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

The Selke Trophy, first awarded in 1977, is given "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game." Barkov, last year's honoree, was third in the NHL with four shorthanded goals and led the Panthers in average time-on-ice per game (20:18). He finished a +36, fourth-best in the NHL among forwards, behind only Calgary's trio of Matthew Tkachuk (+57), Elias Lindholm (+61), and Johnny Gaudreau (+64).
