Eduardo Perez left in the first with an arm injury because all is suffering, and despite a nice day from Spencer Torkelson, the offense was lifeless again. Oh and former Tigers’ prospect Isaac Paredes launched a pair of home runs while the homerless Austin Meadows sat on the injured list with an inner ear infection as the Rays took this one 6-1 to win the series.

Tigers’ Eduardo Rodriguez leaves game in 1st inning with possible injury

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez left Wednesday’s game in the first inning after recording just one out. Rodriguez was in the midst of a rough start when he signaled to the dugout after walking Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Vidal Brujan. Head athletic trainer Doug Teter and manager A.J. Losing their second straight game to the Tampa Bay Rays wasn’t the only setback that the Detroit Tigers suffered this afternoon. Starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez left the game after tossing only 23 total pitches, giving way to Rony Garcia. Rodriguez would say that he felt a pinching sensation in his pre-game routine and that would continue through the 1st inning of play.

The Tigers will hunt for a series victory on Wednesday afternoon before finally getting a day off in the midst of a nine-game road trip. They have the right guy on the mound to get it done. Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Exits with apparent injury

Rodriguez was removed from Wednesday's start against the Rays in the bottom of the first inning due to an apparent injury, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Rodriguez allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout in one-third of an inning before he exited with a trainer. He displayed decreased velocity prior to his removal and threw just 11 of his 23 pitches for strikes. The nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear, and it's unknown whether the southpaw will be able to make his next turn through the rotation. If healthy, Rodriguez tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Minnesota on Monday.
