Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Wakes up in twin bill

Escobar went 3-for-7 with a walk and a solo home run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. After reaching base three times in the matinee, Escobar slugged a solo shot in the fourth inning of the nightcap off Steven Matz. The homer was only his second of the season, and the veteran infielder's production in the twin bill was an encouraging sign after he slashed a brutal .141/.212/.192 with only two RBI over his prior 20 games.

Francisco Lindor, Eduardo Escobar struggling at plate as Mets’ offense dips

The Mets are still winning games, but their offense has tailed off of late.  Over their last 12 games, they are averaging 4.1 runs, and that includes two outliers — a 10-run anomaly and the seven-run, ninth-inning rally, both against the Phillies. Compare that to the first 18 games, when they were producing 4.7 runs a game.  A number of Mets have gone cold, in particular Francisco Lindor and Eduardo Escobar. In this 12-game stretch, Lindor had just eight hits in 49 at-bats, dropping his batting average all the way down to .239 and his OPS to .742. Escobar is in a...

Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting Game 2

Escobar is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta. Escobar went 1-for-4 with an RBI during Game 1 and will take a seat for the nightcap, which is only his second time on the bench this season. J.D. Davis will man the hot corner in his place for Game 2.

Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha have proven to be two incredible value signings

Less than a week before the MLB lockdown started, the New York Mets made a flurry of signings that really took the baseball world by storm. Eduardo Escobar was the first news to break on Nov. 26 at around 5:30 p.m., which was quickly followed by Mark Canha about three hours later. However, it barely took until the end of the day for those two signings to be overshadowed by Starling Marte, with news breaking just after midnight on Nov. 27 of his agreement with the Mets.

Early impressions of Eduardo Escobar

When the New York Mets signed Eduardo Escobar to a two-year $20 million dollar deal I was excited. Escobar is a player I've had my eye on ever since he broke out with a 35 home run 118 RBI season in 2019 in Arizona. He's a well rounded, switch hitting third baseman with a lot of power.

Mets’ Eduardo Escobar adds power to patient approach at plate: ‘Doing it all’

The numbers have been telling. Eduardo Escobar, an All-Star last season, has never hit quite like he is hitting this season. He is working pitchers more than he ever has. He fought through a 10-pitch walk against Carlos Rodon on Wednesday, taxing a starter the Mets wanted out of the game as quickly as possible. He entered play Thursday as the NL leader in doubles (with seven) and ninth best in baseball at draining opposing pitchers, seeing 4.53 pitches per plate appearance.
