Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Was hoping to return for Game 6

DeMelo was dealing with a groin injury and was hoping to be back in the lineup for Game 6 or 7, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Considering DeMelo was looking to play again in this series, his groin injury shouldn't be an issue heading into the 2021-22 campaign. For the second straight year, DeMelo failed to score a goal but still tally nine assists, 76 hits and 58 blocks in 52 games while averaging 16:58 of ice time. DeMelo could provide some value in formats that prioritize defensive stats but should otherwise be considered a low-end fantasy option.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Facing one-week absence

According to coach Paul Maurice, DeMelo (lower body) is expected to miss about a week, Sara Orlesky of TSN.ca reports. In the opening-round series against the Oilers, DeMelo averaged 26:00 of ice time through four games while dishing out 12 hits and nine blocks. While the 28-year-old defenseman is unlikely to directly impact fantasy players given his limited offensive upside, his absence will stretch the Jets' defensive depth and could potentially lead to netminder Connor Hellebuyck facing some extra rubber. While not confirmed by Maurice, Jordie Benn is likely to step into DeMelo's spot in the lineup while Tucker Poolman could see a significant uptick in minutes.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Early exit Wednesday

DeMelo (lower body) won't return to Wednesday's Game 1 versus the Canadiens. DeMelo suffered the injury in the first period, and it's not encouraging that he was ruled out for the game prior to the first intermission. The 28-year-old mainly plays a defensive role for the Jets -- he had 12 hits, nine blocked shots and a plus-2 rating without recording a point in a four-game sweep of the Oilers in the first round. If he's not ready to play in Friday's Game 2, Jordie Benn would likely enter the lineup, while Tucker Poolman could move into a top-four role.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Assists on opening tally

DeMelo produced an assist, two shots on goal and a pair of hits in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Canucks. DeMelo helped out on Kyle Connor's goal at 7:48 of the first period. The 28-year-old DeMelo hasn't done much on offense this season with eight assists in 51 outings. The stay-at-home blueliner has added 76 hits, 57 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a plus-8 rating.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Nabs shorthanded assist

DeMelo produced a shorthanded assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Flames. DeMelo set up Adam Lowry's second tally of the contest at 5:33 of the second period. The 28-year-old DeMelo has two helpers in his last three outings, but he went 13 games without a point before he reacquainted himself with the scoresheet. The Ontario native isn't known for producing much offense. He has only seven helpers, 37 shots, 55 blocked shots, 69 hits and a plus-7 rating through 48 appearances.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Snaps slump with helper

DeMelo recorded an assist, three shots on goal, a plus-4 rating and two PIM in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flames. DeMelo set up Nate Thompson for the Jets' first of five unanswered tallies Monday. The 27-year-old DeMelo has been quiet on the scoresheet this year. He has five assists in 32 appearances. The Ontario native has added 50 hits, 41 blocked shots, 26 shots on net, 12 PIM and a plus-7 rating in a mainly defensive role.

Jets' Dylan DeMelo: Will play Saturday

DeMelo (personal) will be back in action versus the Senators on Saturday, Mitchell Clinton of JetsTV reports. DeMelo didn't travel with the team after the birth of his child but with the Jets back at home, he will slot back into the lineup. Logan Stanley is a candidate to be relegated to a spot on the bench with DeMelo back, though Ville Heinola could also be an option.
