Everton are poised to appoint their new manager in the next 24 hours, with Frank Lampard fighting it out with Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson for the post. Ferguson, the caretaker following the sacking of Rafael Benitez, is a surprise candidate given it had appeared to be a straight shoot-out between Pereira and Lampard. But all three are due for talks on Friday. Lampard, the former Chelsea and Derby County manager, was interviewed for a second time by Everton on Thursday, in another twist to the Merseyside club’s search.
