Dominick Reyes
Dominick Reyes (born December 26, 1989), nicknamed The Devastator, is an American mixed martial artist and former college football player. He competes in the light heavyweight division and is currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of February 13, 2020, he is #10 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings and he is #15 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings. Reyes was a four-year Division I starting safety in college for the Stony Brook Seawolves. After going undrafted in 2013, Reyes embarked on a career in mixed martial arts, signing with UFC in 2017 and winning his first 12 fights. Reyes challenged Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in February 8, 2020 at UFC 247 but lost his first career fight via unanimous decision.

Dominick Reyes is taking all the time he needs to recover from a brutal fight with Jiri Prochazka. Reyes vs. Prochazka headlined UFC Vegas 25, which took place inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, back in May. The Light Heavyweight clash was contested at a heinous pace and ended when Prochazka landed an elbow to spinning back elbow combination that face-planted Reyes (watch here). Reyes is one of the best light heavyweights in the UFC but he is coming off of three straight losses to Jiri Prochazka, Jan Blachowicz, and Jon Jones. The fight against Prochazka, in particular, was a brutal war that left Reyes knocked out cold. It was a very difficult fight for Reyes and he has taken off the past four months since then. In fact, Reyes says that he wants to take even more time off in order to heal his brain from that fight. He recognizes how much damage he took and he wants to make sure he does his comeback right.

Reyes announced himself through his social media that he underwent successful knee surgery on Thursday to repair the meniscus, a surgery that typically has someone on the bench for four-to-eight weeks.
