Dolphins' DeVante Parker: Tua Tagovailoa's mechanics 'look different' heading into Year 2

Tua Tagovailoa knows he didn't have the best showing as an NFL rookie. It led to speculation the Miami Dolphins were still potentially in on drafting a quarterback atop the first round for a second consecutive year, but they instead doubled down on their belief in Tagovailoa's potential by reuniting him with former Alabama star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. And with that, the pressure increases on Tagovailoa to level up in his second season -- something he feels is on the horizon. He's not the only one carrying that optimism, by the way, with longtime Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker being another.

DeVante Parker likes the new and improved Tua Tagovailoa he’s seeing

The Miami Dolphins finished 10-6 and missed out on the playoffs. But their young signal-caller is apparently making strides this offseason. He played in 10 games during his professional debut campaign, made nine starts and was sent to the sidelines on more than one occasion. But less than one season does not an NFL player make, much less a quarterback that was the fifth-overall pick in the 2020 draft.

He might not have completely lived up to lofty, and perhaps, unfair expectations as the Miami Dolphins’ first-round pick in 2015. But Parker doesn’t care about what others may say or opine ...

Dolphins' DeVante Parker: Tops 100 yards in season-ending L

Parker (hamstring) caught seven of 14 targets for 116 yards in Sunday's 56-26 loss to Buffalo. Parker was inundated with targets as the Dolphins desperately tried to erase a large second-half deficit, only to watch it keep ballooning, even with backup quarterback Matt Barkley under center for the Bills. After setting career highs across the board with 72 catches for 1,202 yards and nine targets last season, Parker took a step back with just 63 catches for 793 yards and four touchdowns this year. He remains the top option in Miami's passing game heading into next season, but Parker's hopes of playing in the postseason were likely dashed with this loss.
