Dee Ress has been tapped to direct a Hulu series adaptation of the novel “Saint X” by Alexis Schaitkin. Rees is best known for directing (“Mudbound,” “Pariah.”) The eight-episode drama is being adapted by Leila Gerstein (“Hart of Dixie,” “The Handmaid’s Tale.”)
An Academy Award nominee and an Emmy winner are teaming up to bring “Saint X” to Hulu. Dee Rees, who scored a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nod for “Mudbound,” and Leila Gerstein, the winner of an Outstanding Drama Series Emmy for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” are working on a series adaptation of Alexis Schaitkin’s novel for the streamer. Rees is directing and Gerstein is penning the project, per a press release.
A TV adaptation for Alexis Schaitkin’s novel Saint X has been ordered by Hulu from director and executive producer Dee Rees. A complex psychological thriller exploring a dangerous pursuit for the truth, the novel follows the disappearance of Alison Thomas, a young American woman who mysteriously vanishes while on vacation in the Caribbean and later turns up dead.
