Detroit Tigers fans will get another look at outfielder Daz Cameron at the big-league level. Cameron and fellow top Tigers prospect Alex Faedo, a right-handed pitcher, were called up Monday from Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers recalled Cameron from Triple-A Toledo on Monday. With both Austin Meadows (illness) and Victor Reyes (quadriceps) heading to the injured list Monday, Cameron will rejoin the big club to provide an additional body in the outfield. Cameron isn't expected to contend for an everyday role while he's up with the big club, as the Tigers are likely to deploy Robbie Grossman, Willi Castro and Derek Hill as their regular outfielders until one of Meadows or Reyes is ready to come off the IL.

Cameron was returned to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday. Cameron served as the Tigers 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies. He started the second game, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. Cameron has gotten off to a terrible start with Toledo, as he's hitting just .185/.233/.259 across 30 plate appearances.

Cameron joined the Tigers as the 29th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. He has 12 strikeouts in seven games at Triple-A, so Cameron may be up for his glove more than his bat. He is not in the lineup for Game 1 of the twin bill.

Cameron was optioned to Triple-A Toledo following Wednesday's loss to the Yankees. Cameron has been with the big-league club the past five days but appeared in only one game, going 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two strikeouts. He'll return to Toledo, where he went 4-for-24 with 10 strikeouts over the first six games of the season.

Cameron went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Royals. He accounted for Detroit's only run of the day, coming home on a Dustin Garneau double after drawing a free pass and swiping second with two outs in the second inning. Cameron was getting the start in center field with southpaw Kris Bubic on the mound for Kansas City, and he could serve on the short side of a platoon with Akil Baddoo for the time being. Some time over the summer, however, top prospect Riley Greene (foot) will claim center for himself once he's healthy and the Tigers decide he's ready for his big-league debut.

Cameron was recalled by the Tigers on Friday. Cameron will replace starting pitcher Casey Mize, who landed on the injured list with a sprained right elbow. His stay on the roster may be a brief one, as Derek Hill (hamstring) could return soon. Cameron has hit just .194/.259/.325 through 52 career major-league games.

Cameron is starting in center field and batting seventh in Saturday's game against the Royals. Kansas City is starting lefty Kris Bubic, so the Tigers will shift Akil Baddoo and Austin Meadows to the bench, opening up a spot for Cameron in center. The 25-year-old just joined the MLB roster Friday and hasn't recorded an at-bat yet this season.

The Tigers optioned Cameron to Triple-A Toledo on Monday. Cameron turned in an .820 OPS over his eight spring games heading into Monday, but that solid showing over a small sample wasn't enough to override what's been a rather unremarkable body of work at the MLB level over parts of the past two seasons. In 174 career MLB plate appearances, Cameron has produced a .194/.259/.325 slash line with a 32.8 percent strikeout rate. The Tigers will let him play on an everyday basis at Toledo to begin the 2022 campaign, but he should be near the top of the list for a promotion if the big club needs another outfielder at any point.

Cameron went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. Cameron is likely looking at a reserve outfield role at best to begin the season, as the Tigers have the likes of Robbie Grossman, Akil Baddoo and top prospect Riley Greene as potential starters. Cameron didn't do much to earn more playing time in 2021, posting a .194/.278/.359 slash line across 35 games, so a good spring would help his standing in the organization.

It is not entirely fair to place the burden of trades gone wrong on acquired prospects, but it is impossible for Detroit Tigers fans to hear the names Daz Cameron, Jake Rogers, and Franklin Pérez and not shake their heads in disappointment. Trading Justin Verlander became an inevitability back in 2017, but to have none of the returning pieces looking anything close to even a regular starter makes it that much harder to accept. Cameron started a pair of games in right field but will now retreat to the bench despite the fact that he went 3-for-5 with two walks and a steal in those games. Akil Baddoo, Victor Reyes and Robbie Grossman will be the outfielders for the Tigers.

DETROIT -- By the time next March rolls around, it’s possible that no one will remember or care whether Daz Cameron hit .300 or .150 in the final games of the season. Maybe everyone will have forgotten whether Isaac Paredes kept drawing walks at an impressive clip or watched his on-base percentage plummet.

With Derek Hill sent to miss the remainder of the season with a sprained knee, Cameron and Victor Reyes are expected to work in a timeshare for the remaining spot in Detroit's everyday outfield alongside regulars Akil Baddoo and Robbie Grossman.
