Police officer, suspected gunman among 3 dead in Colorado shooting

Three people, including a police officer and a suspect, were killed in a Denver-area shooting Monday, officials said. The circumstances of the shooting, which happened around 1:30 p.m. when an officer was sent on call of a suspicious incident in Arvada's Olde Town, were not immediately released. Police said there was no threat to the public, and no additional suspects were being sought.

If you guessed Maine (which I know none of you did) you’d be correct. According to Bangor Daily News, a property dispute led one man to sawing his neighbors garage in half. The two neighbors had been in a dispute over the property line for quite a while, however once a land surveyor determined that part of the garage was over the property line, he took a sawzall to the garage, cutting it right in half.

Appeals court blocks ruling overturning California's assault weapons ban

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday issued a stay of Judge Roger T. Benitez's decision to overturn California's ban on assault weapons. On June 4, Benitez declared that the state's 30-year ban on assault weapons was unconstitutional and "has had no effect" on stopping mass shootings. He also compared the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle to a Swiss Army knife, calling it "good for both home and battle." His decision was quickly condemned by state officials, victims of gun violence, and gun control advocates. Benitez, who was nominated by former President George W. Bush, gave the state 30 days to appeal.
