Speaker David Ralston & Chairman Shaw Blackmon Announce Historic Income Tax Cut

Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and House Ways & Means Chairman Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire) announced legislation to lower Georgia’s maximum income tax rate from 5.75 percent to a single, flat rate of 5.25 percent. Combined with other measures in the proposed legislation, Georgians would save an estimated $1 billion per year when the cut goes into effect for calendar year 2024.

Today, Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced he has filed House Bill 1013, a comprehensive bill to reform Georgia’s mental health care delivery system and improve client outcomes. The bill is a bipartisan measure sponsored by Speaker Ralston and signed by members of leadership from both political parties including Majority Leader Jon Burns (R-Newington) and Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon).
