World of Outlaws Bristol Bash Five Questions with Donny Schatz, David Gravel, Carson Macedo and James McFadden

The Greatest Show on Dirt returns to The Last Great Colosseum April 28-30. It is the fourth time in history that the World of Outlaws will race on the high-banked dirt-transformed half-mile oval. Last year David Gravel took the checkered flag in both of the feature races at Bristol Motor Speedway to make for a memorable weekend. This year the race will feature both the NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and the CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series competing together in what promises to be an amazing weekend of dirt racing. David Gravel is on a bit of a roll at the Knoxville Raceway. After winning Sunday’s Capitani Classic, he made a late race pass on Justin Henderson and took the checkered flag on qualifying night one of the 60th Running of the Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals on Wednesday. Last week’s 360 Nationals Winner Gio Scelzi was 2nd and Donny Schatz claimed his second podium in as many races at Knoxville with a 3rd place. Scelzi currently leads the points. Tonight the second half of the entrants will run on qualifying night two and after tonight’s racing the top 16 in points will be locked into the first eight rows of Saturday championship feature. Live coverage can be heard on 94.3 and 95.3 KNIA with Live Track Side at 5:00, followed by Motor Racing Network’s Winged Nation at 6:00, and then Race Nights Live at 7:00.

David Gravel Wins 10th Annual Capitani Classic

David Gravel added to his long list of achievements by winning the 10th Annual Capitani Classic Sunday night at the Knoxville Raceway as heard live on KNIA. Gravel, who is the defending Knoxville Nationals winner, blew by Cory Eliason on lap 13 and was never challenged after that. Gravel said in victory lane, the key to getting around Knoxville is running the bottom well, something he felt he did on Sunday. Eliason was 2nd followed by Donny Schatz in 3rd place. The scene shifts now to the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for the Front Row Challenge tonight where one driver will walk away with a $21,000 payday. The next on track activity for the Knoxville Raceway is Wednesday’s opening night qualifier for the 60th Running of the Knoxville Nationals.
