David Gilmour on future Pink Floyd live shows: “I suppose it's a possibility”

Pink Floyd reunited last month for Hey Hey Rise Up, a charity single in support of Ukraine, and their first completely new original material since 1994’s The Division Bell. And while there’s nothing to suggest the band will release any more music any time soon, guitarist David Gilmour has hinted in a recent interview that they haven’t necessarily closed the door on future live shows.

Wish you were there: Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and a night of unexpected magic

When historians of the future write about rock's great rivalries, the Pink Floyd Axis of Upheaval will require a longer chapter than most. From David Gilmour to Richard Wright who is the richest Pink Floyd member? Roger Waters has invested $16 million with Shakira in a 700 acre Bahamian island. Nick Mason loves to splurge on fancy Ferraris and Porsches.

Dadrockers of the world, rejoice – the legendary Pink Floyd have returned for the first time after nearly three decades away. The rousing anti-war plea Hey Hey, Rise Up! marks the British band’s first new music since 1994’s “The Division Bell”, and while it’s been touted as an unprecedented one-off in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it’s still sent music fans scurrying down the white rabbit hole of the band’s 55-year history.

Pink Floyd Return Is ‘One-off’ Says David Gilmour

David Gilmour confirmed that Pink Floyd’s recent return to action was a “one-off” event and doesn’t mean there will be more new activity to follow. This week, the band released the single “Hey, Hey, Rise Up” as an act of support for Ukraine against the current Russian invasion. Based on a folk song and including vocals by Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk, it’s the first new Floyd music since 1994 and comes after they wound down following the release of archive-based album, The Endless River, in 2014.
