Cubs' David Bote: Fills stat sheet in loss

Bote went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a stolen base, three RBI, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 11-9 loss to the Dodgers. Bote did seemingly a little bit of everything Sunday, which included a three-run homer in the third inning. He got on base in all four of his plate appearances, with this counting as his first multi-hit game of the year. The 29-year-old has hit .280 with a homer, three RBI, six runs scored, a steal and two doubles in 11 contests since making his season debut June 24. Bote should continue to contend for playing time at first base and second base.

Cubs Roster Move: David Bote is Back, Jonathan Villar is DFA’d

After a long and briefly-interrupted rehab following shoulder surgery, David Bote is finally back with the big league team. In what originally looked like a situation where the Cubs might have too many options to afford him meaningful playing time (or even a roster spot necessarily), the Cubs are now probably pretty desperate to get Bote back.

Cubs' David Bote: Hitless in 2022 debut

Bote (shoulder/head) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals. Friday marked Bote's season debut after he was cleared from the 60-day injured list. The 29-year-old infielder hit an uninspiring .199/.276/.330 across 97 contests for the Cubs last season, but he'll have a chance to carve out playing time on a rebuilding team this year. He's most likely to challenge for playing time at second base initially, and there should be at least a part-time role available to him against all pitchers as the Cubs' infield remains heavy on right-handed hitters.
