State Sen. Dave Schatz is running for U.S. Senate, he announced Tuesday, joining a crowded Republican primary field competing to succeed Sen. Roy Blunt. Schatz, a Republican from Sullivan and president pro tempore of the Missouri Senate, is pitching himself as a "real guy with a record of results" in the hopes that his decade of statehouse experience and traditional conservative platform can appeal to voters. He'll vie with a number of high-profile candidates — former Gov. Eric Greitens, Attorney General Eric Schmitt, U.S. Reps. Billy Long and Vicky Hartzler and St. Louis attorney Mark McCloskey.
