PHILADELPHIA — Dave Dombrowski has an impressive trade-deadline track record and there's a deal he made with the Phillies that remains near and dear to his heart. Phillies: Dave Dombrowski thinks Scott Kingery will rebound

Many observations have been made so far in spring training, as the Philadelphia Phillies prepare to kick off their 28-game Grapefruit League schedule this weekend. Among those include utility player Scott Kingery — who is competing for the starting center field job — has reported to camp “lighter” and “not as bulked.” If there is any player due for a breakout year, it is Kingery, who through three seasons has not necessarily performed up to the hype he received when rising through the minor-league system from 2015-17. It is believed Kingery coming to camp with this different look will help his speed in the field and base paths, as well as athleticism in the field.

Bryce Harper's offseason went from worrying to 'whoa' when Phillies hired Dave Dombrowski

Bryce Harper was home in Las Vegas this winter but could not stop thinking about what was going on in Philadelphia. Or perhaps it was what wasn’t going on in Philadelphia. The Phillies reassigned their general manager after another playoff-less season, didn’t seem to be in a hurry to hire a new one, and appeared committed to reducing payroll in a slow offseason after playing 30 home games without fans.

Nashville’s MLB Hopes Grow with Addition of Dave Dombrowski

I wrote about Major League Baseball potentially coming to Nashville years ago, citing that it would be a great cultural fit with the city and that our population had grown enough to support a franchise based on comparisons to active MLB cities. Since then, it’s been a bit of a pipe dream – rumors have resurfaced over the last few years (including one that Nashville was going after the Orioles). But, if Music City Baseball has anything to say about it, this hope and these rumors will one day materialize with a MLB team in the Music City. They certainly got a boost yesterday when news broke that they’d brought former Boston Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski on board as a “baseball adviser.”
