Darius Garland to join Team USA Select Team

During his post-NBA Draft Lottery media availability, Cleveland Cavaliers general manager shared with the media that point guard Darius Garland was invited to join the Team USA Select Team roster. Garland will join last year’s squad, which features fellow Cavalier Jarrett Allen, and scrimmage against teammate Kevin Love and the...

Cavs: Darius Garland could be very good but not the next great NBA point guard

Darius Garland could be good but stats argue against him being great. The Cavs have an assistant coach in Greg Buckner who believes in Darius Garland and his ability to be great. The coach joined the Cavs to be J.B. Bickerstaff’s number one on the bench and believed he saw Garland flash star potential. Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported on a conversation that Buckner had with Bickerstaff, where Buckner said Garland could be great.

Cavs: Darius Garland should assert himself more in early clock

Next season, I’d expect Cleveland Cavaliers lead guard Darius Garland to build off his second campaign. In 2020-21, Garland looked like a different player, and as compared to his rookie season, in which he reportedly still had his prior meniscus injury from college in the back of his mind, Year 2 for him was quite the bounce-back year.

Cavs: Trae Young’s floaters are key, which should matter to Darius Garland

It’s difficult for me to be too critical of Darius Garland for his performance in his second season for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a fairly underwhelming rookie campaign in which he did reportedly still have his prior meniscus injury that cut his lone collegiate season at Vanderbilt still in the back of his mind, Garland rebounded in Year 2.

Cavs want Darius Garland, Collin Sexton shooting 8 threes per game

Last season, Darius Garland and Collin Sexton were key bright spots, for the most part, for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a fairly underwhelming rookie campaign, Garland bounced back in a big way with 17.4 points and 6.1 assists per outing, and it was apparent that he no longer had his prior meniscus injury dating back to college in the back of his mind. He reportedly did have that be the case in his first season; in Year 2 for him though, he looked like a different player.

Cavs: Darius Garland, Taurean Prince can help Isaac Okoro with handle

Isaac Okoro had his share of flashes on-ball in his first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, even with him having some rookie struggles offensively. 9.6 points per outing in 32.4 minutes on average was not exactly tearing it up overall, but Okoro did show positive signs as a scorer and his driving abilities were a plus.

Darius Garland receives three votes in Most Improved Player voting

Cavs guard Darius Garland didn’t win the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award on Tuesday — that honor rightly went to Knicks forward Julius Randle. However, Garland did some love on the ballot. Per the NBA’s official vote tally, Garland received three third-place votes, putting him tied for 10th place in...

Cavs Rumor: Darius Garland, not Collin Sexton is the centerpiece

A rumor has the Cavs believing Darius Garland is their best player and not Collin Sexton. The Cavs have a heck of a point guard in Darius Garland, at least that’s their belief. The second-year player huge leaps in his play in 2020-2021 so it’s not out of the realm to believe that his upside is higher than that of Collin Sexton. Cue Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com who’s reporting that the Cavs see Garland as the team’s best player.

Cavs: Some PT again at Nets would be meaningful for Darius Garland

Darius Garland has had a heck of a bounce-back season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and has had 17.4 points and 6.1 assists per outing. Prior to a left ankle sprain leading to him having missed seven games, Garland had been in a particularly nice groove, too. While some injuries to...

Darius Garland, Cedi Osman return Friday night against Wizards; Garland to come off bench, play limited minutes

WASHINGTON -- Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland will make his return Friday night against the Washington Wizards, sources tell cleveland.com. Garland, who missed the previous seven games because of a sprained left ankle suffered on April 30, will come off the bench and play in a limited capacity. Garland has been hopeful of a comeback, recently ramping up his exertion level during pregame workouts. On Friday morning, Garland went through portions of shootaround at Capital One Arena, testing out the ankle one more time before getting clearance.
