Royals' Danny Duffy: Progressing in recovery

Duffy (forearm) has been throwing from 90 feet, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Duffy has thrown with "some intensity" from that distance, an encouraging sign according to manager Mike Matheny. The lefty likely remains at least a couple weeks from returning to the Royals, assuming he'll require a rehab assignment to work his way back into starter's shape.

Royals' Danny Duffy: Still resting

Royals manager Mike Matheny said Thursday that Duffy (forearm) is still resting, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports. Duffy has been on the injured list since May 17 due to a left forearm flexor strain, and he hasn't made much progress in his recovery so far. While Duffy appears to have avoided a serious injury, he's been brought along slowly to prevent a more long-term issue. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to resume throwing.

Royals' Danny Duffy: Will reassess in five days

Duffy (forearm) will rest his arm for about five days before reassessing when he might be able to return, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. The lefty had initially feared a more severe injury and an extended absence, so the news is a promising sign for Duffy and the Royals. There's no guarantee Duffy stays on the injured list for the minimum 10 days, but it does appear he'll be returning to action sooner rather than later.

Royals' Danny Duffy: Suffers second straight loss

Duffy (4-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings in a loss to the Tigers on Wednesday. The Royals were hoping Duffy's arm could help them end a nine-game losing streak coming into Wednesday's game but he received little help from the offense after their bats mustered up just two runs on three hits. He was given an early two-run cushion in the first inning but that was erased quickly after allowing a run in the second and third. The 32-year-old later surrendered two extra-base hits and a single in the fifth which amounted to another two runs and put the Royals behind for good. Duffy did tie his season-high with eight strikeouts but has given up seven runs over his last 11.2 innings after only allowing two earned in his first 30. He still owns a 1.94 ERA which is good for sixth-best in major league baseball but the window to sell high on the left-hander is quickly closing after a pair of rocky starts have led to consecutive losses. He'll look to turn things around early next week in a meeting against the Brewers.

Royals' Danny Duffy: Takes loss to Cleveland

Duffy (4-2) allowed three earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six across 5.2 innings to take the loss to Cleveland on Thursday. Thursday marks Duffy's first outing where he surrendered multiple runs. Even with the mediocre appearance, he still has a 1.26 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. His velocity is up to 93.8 mph, his highest since 2016. The 32-year-old is scheduled to start Wednesday in Detroit.

Royals vs. Indians prediction: Bet on red-hot Danny Duffy

In the latest “Look this way not that way,” Gov. Cuomo said, “Broadway can reopen at full capacity on September 14.” And the New York State Fair will be held at Syracuse later this summer. Among the attractions are Grab-N-Go food (not just Cuomo chips), creative fictional book-writing classes, a kissing booth (vaxxed only) and plenty of strip poker tables (vaccines not required).

Dominant Danny Duffy, Royals take on Twins again

Danny Duffy is starting the 2021 season in impressive fashion for the Kansas City Royals, leading all of MLB in ERA (0.39). But it has nothing to do with pitch selection, spin rate or velocity. Duffy will take the mound for Kansas City on Saturday in the second game of...

Danny Duffy has shown glimpses of brilliance before, but this April he has strung together an impressive streak of starts, the best in Royals history for the first month of the season. His minuscule ERA of 0.39 is tops in the American League, and he already has 1.3 WAR this season.
