Head coach Dana Altman announced Wednesday morning that Chris Crutchfield will fill the vacant assistant coach role for Oregon men's basketball in 2021. The veteran coach said he didn’t have the No. 7 seed Ducks sufficiently prepared to play against the zone defense employed by the No. 6 seed Trojans during their 82-68 win over UO at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and not playing Franck Kepnang more in the first half was “a mistake” in light of the spark the freshman provided during the second half.

Dana Altman says Chris Duarte should be Pac-12 Player of the Year

Oregon senior guard Chris Duarte has elevated his game to another level for the Ducks this season. As the wins started stacking up, Duarte's play rose with it to the point he's now become one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 Player of the Year award. Head coach Dana Altman won't be allowed to vote for Duarte because the league doesn't allow coaches to vote for their own players, but he did say he believes Duarte should win the award.

The plan all along was to give Oregon's men's basketball program Tuesday off. Wednesday the Ducks would hold a light walk-through practice to conserve energy and themselves as ready as they can be for Stanford on Thursday, the next game during a stretch where Oregon plays six games in 14 days.
