Mullen has appeared on several ESPN college football-related programs in the past and last coached during the 2021 campaign with the Gators. Mullen would follow several former coaches who have served in a broadcast or talent role for a major network, including fellow former Florida coach, Urban Meyer.
Former Florida football coach Dan Mullen may have found his next gig. Mullen is considering an offer to join ESPN as a studio analyst, according to a report from Brett McMurphy of ActionNetwork. The 50-year-old departed Florida in November and was ultimately replaced with Billy Napier before the conclusion of the season. Less than two months later, Mullen was trying his hand at analyzing college football games for ESPN as a guest on the network, including for the network's coverage of the national championship game Jan. 7 between Alabama and Georgia. He first joined ESPN for the SEC Championship game between the two teams. For the national championship, Mullen was joined in-studio by Cincinnati Bearcats coach Luke Fickell, whose team fell to Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
