Damon Jackson: Darrick Minner Can’t ‘Hang With Me on the Ground’

Jackson will look to make it three straight wins and live up to his nickname, “The Leech,” by finishing Minner on the ground. “I feel like my grappling is way better than his,” Jackson told MMASucka. “My wrestling is definitely better. My jiu-jitsu finishes are a lot more technical than his. He gets a lot of people with real fast guillotines and he comes out swinging heavy and makes people go to wrestling, and he takes advantage of that. I see the fight playing out how all my fights do. I’m going to press forward, take him down, and I will get a finish on the ground. Whether it’s a TKO or a submission, either way, I’ll be ready to go for him on the ground.”

Damon Jackson reveals he fought out his contract at UFC Vegas 50, hopes he starts to get the respect he deserves

Damon Jackson took a risk by fighting out his UFC contract when he took on Kamuela Kirk at UFC Vegas 50. However, when he saw the betting odds had it as a pick’em and that people were picking against him, he says it motivated him to go out and beat Kirk from start to finish until he got the stoppage.

UFC’s Damon Jackson on gruesome cut: ‘I see my blood squirting out like two or three inches’

Damon Jackson suffered a gruesome cut during his fight with Charles Rosa on the preliminary portion of UFC Vegas 39 on Saturday night. The UFC featherweight was caught with a spinning back elbow that immediately opened a cut on the side of his right eyebrow in the beginning of the third round. The damage was quite obvious as Jackson started bleeding profusely on his opponent and the canvas as both men went to the ground. With every submission attempt from Jackson, more blood poured out from the cut and it looked as though the fight was in danger of being stopped. The cagseside physician was eventually requested by the referee, and after an inspection, determined that Jackson could continue. He did so and went on to win a unanimous decision over Rosa.

The fighters ended up locked in a grappling exchange and there were moments where Jackson was attempting to look for a submission and blood was just leaking out of his forehead in a steady stream as he continued fighting.
