Why it’s too early to evaluate Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Conor Garland

The Vancouver Canucks made a franchise-altering trade during this past offseason with the Arizona Coyotes that netted them two players. Veteran defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and forward Conor Garland arrived in Vancouver with high expectations considering the assets the Canucks had to surrender. With their first year almost over, it’s fair to say they landed somewhere in between failing to meet and meeting expectations, neither blowing anyone away with their play.

The Canucks need more production from Conor Garland

Conor Garland seemed to fit in with the Vancouver Canucks after being traded from the Arizona Coyotes last summer. He got off to a good start. In the first few weeks of the season, he had three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 14 games. Fans also were warming up to his feisty attitude, shifty moves and constant spinning. He was like the energizer bunny and was a bright spot in the tough first few months of the season.
