Zeller is being waived by the Trail Blazers, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports. After the news of the Trail Blazers and Pelicans trade Tuesday, the team is reportedly letting Zeller go. The center just recently underwent surgery to address a patellar injury which will keep him sidelined until at least the start of April. The Trail Blazers will now have Jusuf Nurkic and Trendon Watford handling center duties moving forward.

The Trail Blazers waived Zeller (knee) on Tuesday. With Portland bringing in four new players and sending out three in the deal the team completed with the Pelicans earlier Thursday, Zeller was cut loose to get roster down to the standard 15 players. The veteran center recently underwent surgery to address a patellar fracture, and he was expected to be sidelined until at least April.
