Christopher Walken Will Play ‘Dune: Part Two’s Emperor

The amazing cast of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is getting even better for the upcoming conclusion to the story, Dune: Part Two. To the ranks of returning cast members Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, and Dave Bautista, we can now apparently add Christopher Walken, who will be playing — who else? — the Emperor of the Known Universe.

Dune 2 casts Christopher Walken in major role

Dune: Part Two has found its universe-ruling Emperor Shaddam IV in Christopher Walken. Returning director Denis Villeneuve is primed and ready to call 'ACTION!' on the sequel this summer, welcoming other cast newbies in the form of Florence Pugh (Black Widow) and Austin Butler (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).

Dune: Part Two Adds Christopher Walken as The Emperor

There's a lot of anticipation right now for Dune: Part Two after the huge success of the first film at the box office, critical reception, and its awards performance with the six Academy Awards that it won last March. Given that the sequel is going to cover the second half of the novel, we are expecting new characters that they haven't introduced yet in the first film. Now, it looks like they have found an actor who will play a very pivotal role in the Dune universe.

Dune: Part Two Adds Christopher Walken to Cast

Dune 2 will be adding Christopher Walken to its all-star ensemble cast. Walken has been cast in the role of Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, ruler of the known universe in Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi series. It was Shaddam who sent the Atreides family to the planet Arrakis to preserve the spice trade there – a decision that sparked a war between the Atreides and House Harkonnen and led to the downfall of the former. In Dune: Part Two, Shaddam and Harkonnen ruler Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård) will try to hold Arrakis against the uprising by the Fremen and Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet).
