The 6’2″, 190-pound defenceman has spent parts of five seasons in the NHL, registering 20 points (6-14-20) and 16 penalty minutes in 70 career regular season games played with Ottawa, Los Angeles, and Buffalo. At the AHL level, Wolanin has played 89 regular season games with the Belleville Senators and Ontario Reign, reaching a total of 53 points (9-44-53) and 55 penalty minutes. During his rookie AHL season (2018.19), he led all Belleville defencemen in scoring with 31 points (7-24-31) in 40 games.

Wolanin signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Thursday, per CapFriendly. Wolanin combined for nine appearances between the Sabres and the Kings last season, logging two points. He also had 18 points in 37 games at the AHL level with the Kings' minor-league affiliate. More time in the minors is expected for the veteran defenseman, since he settled for a two-way deal to join the Canucks' organization.

Wolanin was demoted to AHL Ontario on Sunday. With the Kings' acquisition of Troy Stecher, Wolanin is no longer needed at the top level right now. He has two points in eight NHL appearances this season and will likely spend most of his time moving forward in the minors.

The Kings have been hit HARD by the injury bug lately, with Drew Doughty, Tobias Bjornfot, Matt Roy, and Mikey Anderson all sidelined within the last couple of weeks. Edler’s impending return to the lineup is a welcome sight. The former Vancouver Canuck inked a one-year contract with the Kings during the offseason and got off to a good start.

Wolanin's exit from the lineup comes on the same day Olli Maatta cleared the protocols, so there's not expected to be a disruption on the Kings' blue line.
