Gone are the days when fashion publications delved under the surface of brands with historical stories in its pages, but Dior is doing something about that. The famed Parisian house has had its informative podcast for a while now, and ‘The Many Lives of Christian Dior,’ dives into the life of Mr. Christian Dior and the time in which he helmed his eponymous label.
Apple TV+ has acquired a new drama series “The New Look” depicting the rise of renowned fashion designer Christian Dior. Starring Emmy Award winner Ben Mendelsohn and Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche, the new series is set in post World War II era to showcase the power struggle between two fashion designers in Paris, the reigning Coco Chanel, and the emerging Christian Dior.
Two of fashion’s most iconic designers are the subject of a new Apple TV+ series. The streaming service announced on Thursday its new project, titled “The New Look,” which offers a dramatized take on the stories of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, focusing on the former fashion designer’s meteoric rise and how he dethroned the latter as the world’s most famous fashion designer. The show is set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris and is inspired by true events.
Apple TV is set to produce a new series following the lives of legendary designers Christian Dior and Coco Chanel. Titled The New Look, the upcoming show will cover the story of how Dior overtook Chanel as the top fashion designer in the world. As explained in a press release, the show, inspired by true events, “centers on the pivotal moment in the 20th century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icons.” It will also feature the stories of other iconic designers such as Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent.
Two of the most notable and iconic designers in the world are undoubtedly Christian Dior and Coco Chanel. After founding their respective eponymous houses in the twentieth century, both crafted exquisite, groundbreaking styles that ensured the perseverance of their brands and legacies into the modern era. Likewise, the two have been the subject of numerous books, articles, movies, and museum retrospectives. Now, their stories will be adapted to the modern format of streaming, as the famed designers will have their own Apple TV+ series.

Damages and Bloodline co-creator Todd A. Kessler is reuniting with former Bloodline star Mendelsohn on The New Look, an inspired-by-true events drama that will be filmed in Paris. Apple says The New Look is an “epic thriller” that “centers on the pivotal moment in the 20th century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icons: Christian Dior, whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade following World War II. The interwoven saga will include the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals: the grand dame Coco Chanel, Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent and more."

Opening Friday at the Brooklyn Museum, the exhibition gives visitors a glimpse into the world of the storied French fashion house.
