Sen. Chris Van Hollen returns home after minor stroke

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen is home again aftersuffering a minor stroke, tweeting Sunday that it was great to be home "after a long week." The Maryland Democrat said in a statement May 15 that he experienced lightheadedness and acute neck pain while delivering a speech in Western Maryland. On the advice of a physician, he sought medical attention upon his return home and he was treated at George Washington University Hospital. An angiogram indicated a minor stroke in the form of a small venous tear at the back of his head, Van Hollen said.

May 16 (UPI) -- Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said late Sunday that he suffered a "minor stroke" over the weekend. In a statement, the Democratic senator said the stroke was in the form of a small venous tear at the back of his head and that he was hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., was hospitalized this weekend following a stroke, the senator revealed Sunday night. "This weekend, after feeling lightheaded while delivering a speech, I sought medical attention at the recommendation of the Attending Physician," Van Hollen posted on Twitter. "I’m feeling much better but will follow doctors' orders and curtail my schedule for the next few days."
