Chase Elliott takes home his first win of the 2022 season

NASCAR Cup Series standings leader Chase Elliott earned his first victory of the season in Monday’s weather-delayed DuraMAX Drydene 400 at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway. Elliott led the final 53 laps of the 400-lapper and pulled away from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for a 2.577-second victory in an action-packed race that was slowed 12 times for caution periods – including a red flag weather delay on Sunday that necessitated pushing the restart to Monday.

Nascar Phenom Chase Elliott makes Senoia Debut

It’s not very often that you get a famous Nascar driver to come and run at your local track, but that was the case this past Saturday night. Since Nascar had made its way to Atlanta Motor Speedway this past weekend, the Pollard’s decided to invite Chase Elliott to come down and drive one of their Crate Late Models. Fortunate for Senoia Raceway, Elliott decided to make an appearance, which helped pack out the pit area and the grandstands to witness this one-time event. The crazy thing was that Elliott brought the fans, but Landon Bagby stole the show.

Dawsonville’s Chase Elliott is arguably the most popular driver on the NASCAR circuit so when he takes part in a promotional event, it’s a pretty big deal. In January, Elliott was the star of a video that provided the “reveal” of the design of the Hooters-centric car he’ll be driving in three races this season. The spot was produced at Hooters Mall of Georgia in Buford and featured several Hooters servers, including Gwinnett County resident Chela Gamboa.

Kyle Larson won NASCAR's Auto Club 400 in Fontana,Calif., on Sunday, but not without causing some issues for his Hendrick Motorsports team. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion was trying to pass Joey Logano for the lead with just under 20 laps to go when he pulled out in front of a hard-charging Chase Elliott, pinching his teammate into the wall and taking him out of contention for the win.
