APD Chief Chad Scott Tapped for New Job, Joining Alachua County Sheriff’s Department

ALACHUA ‒ The City of Alachua is losing its police chief while the Alachua County Sheriff's Office (ASO) is gaining a police commander with 32 years of experience. At the Jan. 24 Alachua City Commission meeting, Alachua Police Chief Chad Scott announced his resignation to accept a job with the ASO as the Chief of Operations with the rank of Major.

Chad Scott joined Harvest Hope Food Bank as director of development and agency relations. He previously worked with The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, PBS Television in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Haiti-based nonprofits Free the Kids and Grace Children’s Hospital.

Relationships 'not just a recruiting tactic' for Chad Scott, WVU

West Virginia running backs coach Chad Scott has a track record of being a good recruiter. He's pulled in top talent at Kentucky, North Carolina and, now, West Virginia. Once the players get there, he also further develops a bond with them. That's something that starts in recruiting and continues throughout their time in college.... but it doesn't necessarily make the two related. See, some coaches will act all nice and show interest during recruiting, then berate players once they arrive on campus. For Scott - and this WVU staff as a whole - the relationships are real. They're building a deeper bond with the players that should last a lifetime. Scott talked about that in the video above.
