Cate Blanchett is an Academy Award winning Australian actress and theatre director best known for appearing as Elizabeth I of England in the flick ‘Elizabeth’ and as Katharine Hepburn in the movie ‘The Aviator’. Besides her work in films, Blanchett has also enjoyed an extensive career in theatre and is a four-time Helpmann Award winner for the ‘Best Female Actor in a Play’. She first became interested in acting while in college but was confused about pursuing it professionally. She enrolled at the University of Melbourne to study economics but dropped out soon in order to pursue an acting career. She then flew overseas and took acting classes before landing her first acting role. Within years, she established herself successfully not only in her native country, but also on an international level. As of March 2018, she is the only actress to receive the Academy Award nominations for playing the same role in two movies (she played Elizabeth I in both ‘Elizabeth’ and ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’). Also, she is the only Australian artiste to receive two Academy Awards for acting.

Focus Features has released the first teaser for its upcoming film “TÁR.”. Cate Blanchet stars in the film inspired by conductor Eva Brunelli, who was the first woman to conduct the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1923. The film will tell the story of Lydia Tár, an alter ego of Eva Brunelli.

The writer-director is returning to the fall festival circuit — and (presumably) the Oscar race — this year with “TÁR,” a new project set against the highly competitive classical music scene in Germany. If “Little Children” and Field’s earlier “In The Bedroom” were any indication of the filmmaker’s modern sensibilities, cinephiles should be in for a real treat when his third feature opens this fall.

July 11 (UPI) -- IFC has announced a first round of guest stars of Documentary Now! Season 53. The network said in a press release Monday that The Lord of the Rings and Blue Jasmine actress Cate Blanchett and Stah Lets Flats creator and star Jamie Demetriou will appear in the new season of the mockumentary series.
