Cassius Winston left Michigan State University as one of the most accomplished point guards in the history of the men’s basketball program, and one of the most beloved players by fans. However, his time as a Spartan ended abruptly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which canceled the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tournament that season.

Winston recorded 28 points (11-14 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 1-4 FT), two rebounds and two assists across 24 minutes off the bench in Thursday's overtime loss to Raptors 905. Winston made the most of his time out there and even though he came off the bench, he still ended as one of the team's best scorers after missing just three of 14 shots from the field. He ends the season averaging 13.4 points, 5.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game, though this 28-point effort was a season-high mark for him.

Winston registered half of his points from the charity stripe but delivered a strong performance across the board, as he came off the bench but ended up being one of the Go-Go's best players. He should remain to play off the bench as long as Capital City remains alive in the playoffs.

Winston had 14 points (4-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six assists, five rebounds and two steals across 26 minutes off the bench in Friday's win over Long Island. Winston might have come off the bench but still ended as one of the best scorers in this game for the Go-Go. Even though his shooting performance wasn't eye-popping by any means, he showed once again that he can produce when given enough minutes regardless of his role.

Winston had 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists and three rebounds across 16 minutes off the bench in Friday's win over Lakeland. Winston didn't have a lot of minutes off the bench, but he still ended with a solid stat line while being one of seven Capital City players that scored in double digits. He's not going to be this efficient on a regular basis, but he certainly made his presence felt in this lopsided win.

Winston put up 24 points (7-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 11 assists, four rebounds and two steals across 21 minutes in Wednesday's 125-111 loss to the Motor City Cruise. Winston had a double-double off the bench against the Cruise on Wednesday. He's averaging 14.1 points and 4.4 assists per game this season while shooting 50.5 percent from the field for the Go-Go.

Winston notched 19 points (5-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 25 minutes off the bench in Friday's loss against the Herd. Winston was not the most efficient player for Capital City since he shot under 40 percent from the field in this game, but he still ended as the team's second-best scorer behind Jaime Echenique, who had 22 points. Winston has played mostly off the bench this season, but he can be relied upon as a decent scoring threat in most nights.

Winston posted 22 points (8-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds, an assist and a steal across 23 minutes off the bench in Monday's win over the Charge. Winston was the leading scorer for the Go-Go, but his efficiency levels certainly stood out, as he shot 66.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from deep in this particular game. The lack of consistency has been an issue, as he has scored in double digits in just two of his last five contests, but he's still averaging 13.2 points per contest.

Winston had 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five assists and two rebounds across 17 minutes off the bench in Sunday's win over Grand Rapids. Winston has been quite inconsistent this season, with four games in double digits and three contests in which he scored nine or fewer points. The 2020 draft pick out of Michigan State is averaging 12.6 points per game this season, though he needs to be far more consistent.

Winston had 24 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 19 minutes off the bench in Monday's win over the Raptors 905. Winston made the most of his limited on-court time, as he ended as one of the team's best scorers while only needing 13 shots, and the fact that he went to the charity stripe eight times certainly helped him. Don't expect these kind of numbers on a regular basis, but Winston should be a decent producer off the bench in most games for the Go-Go.

Winston recorded 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and two steals across 18 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's loss against Westchester. Winston was one of three players that featured under 18 minutes in this game, but that didn't stop him from being one of the team's main contributors. He certainly took advantage of his on-court time, and an uptick in his minutes would be huge to boost his value going forward.

Winston had 17 points (8-19 FG, 1-6 3Pt), 10 assists and three rebounds in the loss against Birmingham on Dec. 19. Winston was one of six players that scored in double digits in that game for Capital City, but his efforts were not enough and the team ended losing either way.

Winston recorded 25 points (9-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight assists, four rebounds and two steals across 32 minutes in Monday's loss against Raptors 905. Winston led the team in both points and assists, so this was clearly one of his best performances of the entire campaign. He's averaging 16.6 points per game on the season and should remain one of Capital City's go-to players on offense going forward.

Winston registered 27 points (9-15 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 24 minutes off the bench in Sunday's win over College Park. Winston is averaging 15.8 points this season, but there's no question this was his best output of the campaign to date. The former Michigan State stud, who was a second-year pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, should remain a capable scoring threat for the Go-Go even if he keeps coming off the bench.

Winston notched 13 points (4-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four assists and two rebounds across 21 minutes in Thursday's loss against Maine. Winston has scored at least 13 points in each of his three appearances in the G League, and he should remain a steady presence on the box score for the Go-Go going forward -- or at least while he stays with Capital City.

Winston was assigned to the Capital City Go-Go of the G League on Friday. Winston was dealing with a lingering hamstring injury that prevented him from making his 2021-22 debut with the Wizards, but he appears to have put the issue behind him. Last season, Winston made 15 appearances at the G League level and averaged 12.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.9 minutes across 30.3 minutes per game.

With the G League season returning to some semblance of normal after last season’s abbreviated schedule in the bubble, the newest Capital City Go-Go brain trust of general manager Amber Nichols and head coach Mike Williams answered questions on Media Day following the completion of training camp last week. The Go-Go’s season starts on Friday, November 5th with the season and home opener against the Westchester Knicks, which will also be the matchup the following day as part of a back-to-back. Wizards two-way guard Cassius Winston may not play in those contests as he is on the back end of his recovery from a left hamstring strain that has sidelined him for weeks. As has been clearly defined by Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard flowing down to the Go-Go, the primary focus of the G League franchise is to develop talent for the NBA club.
