Thank you from Carolyn Jones

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Lewes voters who chose to elect me to the Lewes City Council May 8. I will do my very best to be worthy of your confidence. A huge thank you also to the campaign workers and supporters who delivered and picked up signs, served as advisors, wrote letters, made calls, held events in their homes, made donations, served as challengers at the polls and were there for anything that needed to be done.

Carolyn Jones would be asset to Lewes Council

I have known Carolyn Jones as a work colleague and friend for four decades. She ls a caring. kind, intelligent, and “get it done and done right” person. The City of Lewes and the Lewes City Council would benefit from Carolyn’s negotiating skills and problem-solving abilities fueled by her stong commitment to truth and justice for all. Carolyn’s love for Lewes is evident in every project she takes on.

Carolyn Jones is a great public servant

I have known Carolyn Jones since the 1970s when we worked together in Washington, D.C. at Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for the deaf. Carolyn went on to hold increasingly challenging positions in both the public and private sectors, retiring in 2003 after 20 years at the venerable Smithsonian Institution, capping her career there as human resources director. No one holds that position without having strong people skills and an innate ability not only to listen but to actually hear.

Elect Carolyn Jones to Lewes City Council

I have known Carolyn Jones for many years as a friend and coworker. Carolyn is a leader and will be an excellent addition to the Lewes City Council. Whether through volunteering with the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, serving on various city committees, mentoring local youths, or spearheading environmental causes for local preservation, Carolyn has always been an involved Lewes resident.

Carolyn Jones a great asset for Lewes

When recently talking with Carolyn Jones about an artifact, we discovered that she had been director of human resources at the Smithsonian Institution. Though we have known her for many years, she has never been one to brag about her accomplishments, so we will have to do that. There are...

Carolyn Jones a true asset for Lewes

We were just notified that a good friend and classmate passed away. For many years, he was a Washington-based front man for numerous presidential candidates, and a well-respected student of politics. As quoted in a Baltimore Sunpapers article, he often said: “How do you get things accomplished? You do it by working well with people, and having a knack for diplomacy and public relations.” This helps define the Carolyn Jones we have known for the past 12 years. Carolyn will work hard to develop and implement a comprehensive parking plan for all areas of our increasingly busy town. She will work to mediate the ongoing dispute between the city and the Lewes Board of Public Works, which is costing legal fees on both sides, and could lead the city to deny water and sewer to a home on a Sussex County lot contiguous to city lots, because the owner will not agree to city annexation.

Carolyn Jones is transparent and honest

Just a quick note to endorse a rare candidate for the upcoming Lewes City Council election. The subject of this correspondence is Ms. Carolyn Jones, who I’ve been fortunate to know for the past four years. If you’re looking for a person who plays politics at the misfortune of our fellow residents then she is not your candidate. However, if you’re looking for a person who is honest, transparent and has consistently put the citizens of Lewes ahead of her own personal desires in the numerous volunteer components of our community, then Ms. Jones is the person.
