Reinhardt: Like it or not, the decision to cancel the Illinois State football season belonged to Brock Spack

The fact Brock Spack has chosen NOT to play football games should tell us all we need to know about Illinois State opting out of the remainder of its spring schedule. The Redbird coach lives and breathes football over a career that spans more than 40 years as a player and coach. The electricity of a Saturday afternoon on the gridiron lights him up, stirs his passion, and drives him to the Kaufman Football Building every morning.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Everyone certainly deserved one after such a tulmultuous year. A lot of bloggers have semi-jokingly floated the idea of Brohm bringing in Brock Spack in hopes that some 'stache magic can reignite that defense. He's a Purdue guy through and through I know that for a multitude of reasons that is not likely to happen, even though there some merit to the idea. He's a Purdue guy through and through and much of the fanbase would like the hire. I know Spack's relationship with Burke soured at the end, but a new administration is now running the Athletic Department. Brohm could easily triple his current salary at ISU. But given that it's still highly unlikekly this hire would happen, it begs the quesiton as to why Brock Spack has been in Bloomington-Normal, IL for over a decade.
