Former Major League catcher and recent Indianapolis Indians manager Brian Esposito will manage the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2022. On Jan. 18, the San Diego Padres announced the coaching staffs for their minor league affiliates this season. The new manager joins the High-A Fort Wayne TinCaps after spending the last nine years in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization, including the past four as manager of the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

Brian Esposito is out as manager at Class AAA Indianapolis, multiple sources told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday night. Esposito, 42, has spent the past nine years with the Pirates, including 2018, 2019 and 2021 as manager of their top minor league affiliate. In 2020, Esposito oversaw the Pirates’ satellite camp at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.
