Colorado Reports First Litter of Gray Wolf in 80 Years

According to a statement released by state wildlife officials last Wednesday, Colorado has had its first litter of gray wolf pups since the 1940s. The litter of at least three wolf pups was spotted over the weekend with their parents (two adult wolves) by a state biologist and a district wildlife manager, in Jackson County, just 150 miles northwest of Denver.

Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Schools will provide free meals to students during the summer break

(MIAMI) Citing food security issues, Miami-Dade Public Schools announced it would provide free meals to students during the summer break. According to Feeding America, 1 in 6 children in Florida faced hunger in 2020. Miami-Dade County Public Schools said in a statement, "food insecurity is a serious concern in our community" and reinstated their support for students and their families." The free meals will be available to students 18 and younger. They will just need to walk into campus to pick up a grab-and-go breakfast or lunch. Free breakfast and lunch meals will also be provided to students attending summer school and district-affiliated campuses and programs in the schools.

On November 2, 1883, Fall River County was a recognized county in the Dakota Territory and by November 17, 1883, the county was fully organized with Hot Springs as the County Seat. Eight years later, in 1891, a four-story sandstone courthouse, pictured above on the left, was erected at 906 North River Street and is still in use today.
