Baylor adds Texas high school football coach Brian Bell to staff

Fresh off of a win in the Big 12 title game, Baylor and coach Dave Aranda are adding another championship-pedigree coach to the staff. China Spring (Texas) athletic director Josh Gregory confirmed Monday that football coach Brian Bell is stepping down from his post to join Baylor’s coaching staff as an analyst, per the Waco Tribune-Herald.

Brian Bell leaving China Spring for position at Baylor

Brian Bell is trading one championship-winning program for another. Three days after leading China Spring to its first state football championship since 1978, Bell resigned his head football post to move across town to join the Big 12 champion Baylor Bears as an analyst. China Spring athletic director Josh Gregory confirmed the move on Monday, which was first reported by Matt Stepp of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Just days after winning a state championship with China Spring, head coach Brian Bell is resigning to join the football staff at Baylor. China Spring Athletic Director Josh Gregory confirmed the news to KWTX. Brian’s brother, Shawn Bell, is currently the Quarterback Coach at Baylor.

Brian Patrick Bell, 52, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was born May 29, 1968 in Kansas City, MO to David Erwin and Jane Armacost Bell. Brian attended Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville. He enjoyed travelling, especially to Walt Disney World, and being with his family and friends.
