After perfect start, Switcbacks FC coach Brendan Burke named USL Championship coach of the month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - In his second year as head coach of Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Brendan Burke is taking home some hardware. Burke was named coach of the month in the USL Championship after leading the Switchbacks to a club-record 5-0-0 start to the season. Switchbacks FC are currently first place in the USL with 15 total points and are the only undefeated team left in the league.

Turner names full NHL on TNT cast, including new additions Liam McHugh, Rick Tocchet, Darren Pang, and Brendan Burke

Ahead of the Oct. 12 start of the 2021-22 NHL regular season, Turner Sports has revealed its full lineup of commentators for its NHL coverage. They had previously announced the hires of Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk as their lead announcing team, and Wayne Gretzky as a studio analyst, and there had been reports of them adding other figures like Anson Carter. Brendan Burke will join Turner Sports’ new NHL announcing roster as a play-by-play man alongside analyst Darren Pang, the network announced on Tuesday. Burke, MSG Networks’ Islanders play-by-play man since 2016, had made frequent appearances on NBC’s NHL coverage and was expected to land a place with one of the league’s two new media partners, ESPN and Turner.

Sources: Brendan Burke close to new MSG Networks deal to stay as Islanders broadcaster

Brendan Burke is close to signing a new contract with MSG Networks to remain as the Islanders’ lead TV play-by-play man, industry sources said on Thursday. Burke’s return was no sure thing upon the expiration of the original five-year deal he signed in 2016. With Pat Foley entering his final season calling Blackhawks games — and with the plan to have Foley share the job during the transition season — Burke was offered that job but passed on it, a source said.
