Brant Boyer, the special teams coordinator of the Jets, is among the rarest of assistant coaches. When Robert Saleh was named the Green & White's head coach in January 2021, he brought along a new group of assistants. Boyer, who has been with the team since 2016, was asked to stay on.

Jets fans of a "special" inclination might long for the days — and years — of placekicking stability with Nick Folk. Special teams coordinator Brant Boyer, however, has to go back to his pre-Jets days with Adam Vinatieri and the Colts for that kind of steadiness. The Jets made it official and announced that special teams coordinator Brant Boyer has been retained by new coach Robert Saleh. In addition, the Jets also announced the hiring of five other coaches: Tony Oden (senior defensive assistant/cornerbacks coach), Marquand Manuel (safeties coach), Mike Rutenberg (linebackers coach), Jake Moreland (assistant offensive line coach) and Michael Ghobrial (special teams assistant).
