Brad Tavares is the next man up to halt the hard-charging Dricus Du Plessis. MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Tavares (18-6) will fight Du Plessis (16-2) in a middleweight bout at UFC 276, which takes place July 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC middleweight Dricus Du Plessis is set for another attempt at entering the Octagon for the first time in 2022 at UFC 276. Per MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck, Du Plessis will meet veteran 185lber Brad Tavares inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on July 2. The pay-per-view is set to be the marquee event for International Fight Week.

Dricus Du Plessis will still get an opportunity at a ranked opponent. Du Plessis (16-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) faces Brad Tavares (19-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC) at UFC 276 in Las Vegas. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Tuesday after an initial report by MMA Fighting.

If Brendan Allen is to extend his winning streak, it will be against a different opponent than expected. MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin and Mike Heck confirmed with sources with knowledge of the change that Allen (17-4) will now fight Roman Dolidze (9-1) in a middleweight bout at UFC Vegas 44 on Dec. 4 following the withdrawal of originally scheduled opponent Brad Tavares. No reason has been given for Tavares’ withdrawal.
