Veteran Sprint Car Racer Bobby Marshall, 69

ALLEN, Texas — Bobby Marshall, a veteran sprint car driver who finished second in the 1980 Knoxville Nationals, has died. Marshall, a native of Allen, Texas, raced sprint cars regionally for years. He was one of the drivers who tackled World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series tour in the early 1980s, finishing 16th in the series standings in 1981 and 18th in ’82.

On their quest to prepare for their senior seasons on the diamond at Whitman-Hanson, Tommy and Bobby Marshall turned almost everything into a competition. Whether they were practicing their hitting, throwing off a mound or lifting weights, the twin brothers routinely tried to outdo each other. They would keep track of who won each drill and if one of them conveniently forgot, there was no problem reminding the other who had come out on top.
